Odendaal and NTS shine in the wet in Austria

Round 11 of the 2018 Moto2 World Championship at Red Bull Ring started off in a magnificent way for the NTS RW Racing squad with Steven Odendaal topping the time sheets in the second free practice session in wet conditions with his team mate Joe Roberts in second. “The bike was working really well in the wet and I wasn’t going over the top, I just felt comfortable. The conditions were getting worse and I still managed to improve on my last lap to finish the session on top.

The pair was in the Top-13 once again on Saturday morning in mixed conditions, confirming that, despite the limited amount of information, the NTS works really well in the wet. “I have never had a reputation as a wet specialist, but I was really hoping the qualifying and the race would be wet. Unfortunately it wasn’t the case and we did not have enough time to set up the bike for dry conditions, so we battled a lot in qualifying and the race. We finished in 18th position, which is not where I would like to be half way through the season but we continue to do our best to understand where we can improve. Regarding the incident with Xavi Vierge in qualifying: I am really sorry that it ruled Xavi out of action this weekend, but there was nothing I could do to avoid the collision. It was a pure racing incident and I just hope he recovers fast to come back as quickly as possible.”
