Steven Odendaal closer to the front in Germany
Round 9 of the 2018 Moto2 World Championship, and the last round before a short summer break, took place this weekend on the traditional, physically demanding and technical circuit of Sachsenring in east Germany. Steven Odendaal and his team NTS RW Racing GP conclude the first half of the season on a positive note: “All in all we had a really positive weekend. This is a difficult circuit to find a set-up and the NTS machine has never been around here before but we were only 0.6 seconds off the fastest time on Friday and 0.9 seconds off in qualifying (22nd position), which was one of our most competitive qualifying this season. I felt good in the race and was able to fight with a group, it was a big battle and I enjoyed it. I was just missing a bit of rear grip, which probably cost us the points this weekend, but we can work on that in Brno and try again. Thanks to my team for all their hard work. I am now going back to South Africa for a few checks with my hand (injured in a motocross training 2 weeks ago) to come back stronger after the break.”
Round 10 of the championship will take place in Brno, the Czech Republic, on 5 August.
