BARDAHL Evan Bros. WorldSSP Team has announced today that it has reached an agreement with the South African rider Steven Odendaal who will compete in the 2021 WorldSSP Championship aboard the Yamaha YZF-R6 of the reigning world champions.

After a promising debut season in WorldSSP, where the ex-Moto2 world championship rider finished fifth in the overall championship standings, Odendaal is set to continue the winning streak of the two consecutive championship winning Italian squad.

Steven Odendaal: “I am really happy to be joining the reigning world champions for 2021. I would like to thank my manager Jorge Lis for making this possible and Fabio (Evangelista) for believing in me and giving me this opportunity. I am sure we will do a great job together next year. It won’t be easy to repeat the results the team has achieved in the last two years but we certainly have the potential to do so. I had the opportunity to visit the racing factory of BARDAHL Evan Bros. WorldSSP Team and I was really impressed: the whole team works with a great passion and commitment, which is the key to achieve our goal. I would also like to thank all my personal sponsors and my family for their continuous support. I am very lucky to have such great people behind me which enables me to stay 100% focused on my performance and preparation. I am not sure when I will be able to test my new Yamaha machine for the first time due to the pandemic but I cannot wait to start working with my new team. They have all the technical experience and information and with my experience with the Yamaha 600cc, we make an ideal package to fight for the WorldSSP championship in 2021.”
